Tiger Packs Peanut Butter Drive

Tiger Packs is an initiative of the Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation (GPCF) that was established to combat hunger in the Grinnell-Newburg School District. We are launching a peanut butter drive this holiday season as part of a greater effort to raise awareness for child hunger in Grinnell.

A recent partnership with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank has brought about many changes to the Tiger Packs program. Originally, volunteers met at the Foundation Offices on a monthly basis to pack and deliver food to participating schools, but the NIFB has since taken over the responsibilities of purchasing, packing, and delivery after GPCF provided them with a partial grant. The partnership has allowed Tiger Packs to sustain the growing number of participants. However, the contents of the food packs have changed. Peanut butter is no longer included in the packs, and is greatly missed by the students, which is why we have decided to host a peanut butter drive.

Peanut butter serves as an important supplement to the food provided by NIFB. It is a great source of protein for children and up to sixteen sandwiches can be made with just one jar. There are many ways to get involved with the peanut butter drive. Individuals may host a drive at their workplace or church, purchase jars of peanut butter and place them in the Tiger Packs box/cart at local grocery stores, or donate directly to the Tiger Packs Fund at GPCF. Join us in the fight against child hunger in Grinnell! Feel free to distribute the flyer below to promote the Tiger Packs Peanut Butter Drive.
