Scholarship Descriptions

Adelberg Family Scholarship* $
The Adelberg Family Scholarship recipient has demonstrated excellence in mathematics and science with an intention to continue post-secondary study in mathematics, physics, chemistry, or biology.
Angie Larson Memorial Scholarship $
The Angie Larson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Grinnell High-School graduate who has excelled in music and/or athletics.
Audrey Pederson Memorial Scholarship
The Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate chosen for the Audrey Pederson Memorial Scholarhsip may be either male or female and must have a demonstrated need for financial aid. Priority will be given to a student attending a vocational school or community college. If there is not a graduate who falls into that category then a student attending a college or university may be chosen. An outstanding academic record is not required, but the student must be a good citizen who sets a positive example for others.
Audrey Rivers Griffith Educational Scholarship
The Audrey Rivers Griffith Educational Scholarship is awarded to a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate attending a vocational training school who also demonstrates financial need and is known to be a good citizen.
Dennis Conway Memorial Scholarship Fund
The recipient of the Dennis Conway Memorial Scholarship shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who plans to pursue a degree in education or business. If no student applies with this intention, the scholarship can be awarded to a student pursuing any degree program.
Donald and Carol D. Kaisand Scholarship*
The Donald and Carol D. Kaisand Scholarship is awarded to a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who is pursuing a degree at Iowa State University with preference given to a student who exhibits financial need.
Doug Shutts Memorial Scholarship $
The recipient of the Doug Shutts Memorial Scholarship shall be a female Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who played softball in high school, plans to continue playing softball in post-secondary school, and pursue a career in education or coaching.
Dr. Jeff Knobloch Memorial Scholarship
The recipient of the Dr. Jeff Knobloach Memorial Scholarship shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who demonstrates financial need and good citizenship.
EPC Scholarship*
The recipient of the EPC Scholarship shall be a Grinnell High School graduate who has demonstrated financial need, who exhibits academic excellence and who is going on to an accredited institution of higher learning.
Fitzgerald Family Scholarship
The recipient of the Fitzgerald Family Scholarship shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who intends to major in education with the goal of being a teacher and has a 2.65 (B-) or above GPA.
Green Futures Scholarship*
The Green Futures Scholarship recipient shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate with interest/commitment to improving the environment and have tangible tasks he/she intends to accomplish that leads to a “Green Future”.
Grinnell Girls Camp Association Scholarship $
The Girls Camp Association Scholarship recipient shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who intends to study education or environmental studies at an accredited institution of higher education.
Grinnell Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship*
The Grinnell Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship recipient shall be a BGM, Grinnell-Newburg, Lynnville-Sully, Montezuma or South Tama High School graduate pursuing a degree in a medical field from a college, university, vocational or technical school.
Hilke Family Scholarship $
The Hilke Family Scholarship will provide a renewable annual scholarship for up to 4 years to a Grinnell High School graduate who plans to pursue a degree in the field of electrical or chemical engineering with secondary priority given to a related engineering field at an institution of higher education.
Iowa Transportation Museum Endowed Scholarship* $
The Iowa Transportation Museum Scholarship recipient of this scholarship should be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate pursuing a transportation related degree program. If no students apply that meet this criteria the scholarship can go to any graduate who submits a schlorship application.
Howard Raffety Agricultural Scholarship $
The recipient of the Howard Raffety Agricultural Scholarship shall be a Grinnell High School graduate pursuing a degree from an institution of higher education. First priority will be given to a student who is going into an agriculture production degree program and if no student applies with this intention the scholarship can go to a student intending to study any agriculture or education program.
Jewel and John Kintzinger Scholarship* $
The recipient of the Jewel and John Kintzinger Scholarship shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate going on to a 4-year accredited institute of higher learning pursing a degree in a business-related field.
Jodie Gallagher Teachers Scholarship*
The recipient of the Jodie Gallagher Teachers Scholarshp shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa with first priority given to a student enrolled in an early childhood education degree program and second priority given to a student intending to study another education degree program.
Kalleen Buchmeier Memorial Scholarship*
The Kalleen Buchmeier Memorial Scholarship recipient shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate with at least a 3.0 grade point average and have a record of extracurricular involvement in school.
Kevin J. Lang PhD. Memorial Scholarship*
The recipient of the Kevin J. Lang PhD Scholarship shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who plans to pursue a degree in mathematics and/or computer science. If no student applies with this intention, the scholarship can be awarded to a student pursuing a physics, chemistry or biology degree.
Lance Reimers Memorial Scholarship*
The Lance Reimers Memorial Scholarship is available to a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who attended Davis Elementary School and wishes to further his/her education in an accredited program at any vocational/technical school, two or four-year college or university.
Lincoln Savings Bank Scholarship* $
The Lincoln Savings Bank Scholarship is awarded to a Grinnell High School graduate who will further their education by attending an institution of higher education.
Lois Ogan and Mary Ellen Binegar Scholarship*
The Lois Ogan and Mary Ellen Binegar Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior at Grinnell-Newburg High School who is going on to higher education. Preference will be given a student intending to study a public service related degree and if no student applies who has this intent then the scholarship can go to a student studying any degree.
Lydia Reida Scholarship* $
The Lydia Reida Scholarship shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate intending to go on to higher education.
Lucille M. and Kenneth J. Benda Scholarship $
The Lucille M. and Kenneth J. Benda Scholarship recipient shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate attending any accredited institution of higher learning including community college, college, university, and vocational school.
Marvin D. Bahr and Rosada E. Bahr Scholarship*
The Marvin D. Bahr and Rosada E. Bahr Scholarship recipients shall be Iowa Valley Community High School graduates who demonstrate responsibility, indicate a desire for additional education, and show scholastic ability in the classroom with preference given to candidates expressing ability in the arts and commitment to their community. A graduates chosen institution of higher education must be located within the State of Iowa.
McCormick Scholarhship* $
The McCormick Scholarship will be awarded to a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who exhibits good character, is involved in extracurricular activities, has a good academic record, and demonstrates financial need.
Nathan Figland Memorial Wrestling Scholarship*
The Nathan Figland Memorial Wrestling Scholarship recipient shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who wrestled in high school with preference given to a graduate going on to a 2 or 4-year accredited institution of higher learning intending to continue to wrestle at the collegiate level.
Neil Lewis Memorial Scholarship*
The Neil Lewis Memorial Scholarship recipient shall be an ACGC or Coon Rapids-Bayard High School graduate who is pursuing a degree at an accredited 2 or 4 year institution of higher education. The student must also demonstrate a good character, a 3.0 or higher GPA and involvement in high school athletics.
Newburg Alumni Scholarship
The Newburg Alumni Scholarship recipient shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate ranking in the top 50% of their class, a resident of the area served by the former Newburg CSD. If there are no students living within the area then a student with a rural route address may be chosen.
Praestantia Scholarship*
The Praestantia Scholarship recipient shall be the top graduating Grinnell-Newburg High School student (based on GPA and class standing) and be going on to an accredited institution of higher learning.
Rachel & Richard Sanders Scholarship*
The recipient of the Rachel and Richard Sanders Scholarship must have demonstrated financial need and must be a good citizen who sets a positive example for others.
Renaud Scholarship* $
The Renaud Scholarship recipient shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who is pursuing a degree that leads to a career in agriculture and/or education.
Rob Nebergall & Nancy Nebergall Bosma Scholarship* $
The Ron Nebergall and Nancy Nebergall Bosma Scholarship recipient shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate going on to a 4-year accredited institution of higher learning with first priority for students focusing on a medical or teaching degree. If there are no students focusing on a medical or teaching degree, then the scholarship(s) can be awarded as best determined by the review committee.
Ronald Graham Memorial Scholarship*
The recipient of the Ronald Graham Memorial Scholarship shall be a Girnnell-Newburg High School graduate residing in a rural area of the Grinnell-Newburg School District and enrolling in a community college or vocational training program.
Scandrett Family Scholarship* $
The recipient of this scholarship will be a first generation college bound female. First priority will be given to a student with demonstrated financial need. A renewable $500 scholarship will be awarded with a maximum of $2000. Scholarship will be awarded for a maximum of 4 years as long as student is enrolled in an accredited institution.
S.H.E. COUNTS First Generation Scholarship
The renewable S.H.E. COUNTS First Generation Scholarship recipient is a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who is pursuing a degree at an institution of higher education and is a first generation college bound female with first priority given to a student with demonstrated financial need.
Sid Potts Scholarships* $
Three Sid Potts Scholarships will be awarded to Grinnell-Newburg High School female graduates pursing a degree in a healthcare field, an education field and a buisness field at a 4-year college or university.
Tiger Scholarship Fund General Scholarship $
Each year any Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who applies for a Tiger Scholarship Fund General Scholarship and does not receive one of the other TSF scholarships will receive a $500 scholarship.
Victor T. Wilson M.D., Warren H. Bower M.D. and Surgical Associates Memorial Scholarship*
The Victor T. Wilson M.D., Warren H. Bower M.D., and Surgical Associates Memorial Scholarship recipient shall be a BGM, East Marshall, Green Mountain Garwin (GMG), Grinnell-Newburg, Lynnville/Sully, Meskwaki Settlement, Montezuma, North Mahaska, Sully Christian, South Tama, or HLV High School graduate pursuing a degree in a medical/health field with preference given to a student enrolling in a nursing or pre-medicine degree program at a 4-year accredited institution of higher education.
Vivian G. Craig Music Scholarship* $
The Vivian G. Craig Music Scholarship recipient shall be a Grinnell-Newburg High School graduate who plans to pursue a degree or minor in music with course of study including instrumental music, vocal music or music education. If no graduate selects a music course of study, the scholarship should be awarded to a graduate who was active in high school music programs.
Gerald F. Williams and June I. Williams Scholarship*
The renewable Gerald F. Williams and June I. Williams Scholarship recipient shall be a North Mahaska High School graduate who maintains a 3.0 (B) GPA, demonstrates financial need and is of good character. Future plans for study include pursuing a degree from a college, university, vocational or technical school in Iowa.
