Becoming A Donor
The community foundation idea is simple: to pool resources of many donors to make a lasting difference in the community.
GPCF hosts over 100 funds supporting a wide-range of causes. From education to mental health, early childhood to caring for the elderly, historical preservation to campaigns for new construction, arts and culture to human services, donors have turned to the Community Foundation to directly impact causes they care about right here in Poweshiek County.
We welcome gifts of all sizes to existing funds. However, if you wish to support a cause that might not be represented, starting a fund at the Community Foundation is simple.
Some donors give during their lifetimes, others arrange a future gift through bequests, all are generous givers. Visit our Ways To Give page to see the many flexible giving options available.
Benefits to Donors
The Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation was established to offer a simple, local and personalized way for individuals, families and businesses to support charitable community organizations and projects important to them.
Tax Advantages
Gifts to the Foundation are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. See the Endow Iowa Tax Credit Program for more information.
Flexibility
In addition to cash contributions, GPCF can accept a wide range of gifts including stocks, bonds, life insurance, gifts of grain or real estate, bequests, and IRAs.
Recognition
Donors may establish a fund in his or her own name or in honor of a loved one. A named fund will always be connected with any grant from that fund.

GPCF staff are available to discuss your giving priorities to help you make the greatest impact in your community.
Oversight
GPCF is accredited through the National Council of Foundations and participates in an annual audit. It is governed by a diverse board of 20 community members to monitor financial statements, granting and community impact.
Investment Power
Gifts are invested wisely to ensure long-term growth. Donors can receive fund statements to track growth, disbursements and expenses for accurate and easy record-keeping.
