GPCF Accepting Nominations for Annual Spirit of Giving Award

The Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation (GPCF) is now accepting nominations for its annual Connie Marshall Spirit of Giving Award. Nominations are due by August 31, and the winner will be announced at a reception at the Foundation Offices on October 13.

The Spirit of Giving Award honors an individual or couple who has selflessly given back to their community. The winner or winners will have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to volunteering their time and talent, and their accomplishments will have had a significant impact on charitable organizations in Poweshiek County. Nominees should reflect a “spirit of giving” and will be selected on the length and breadth of their dedication to charitable involvement. The award includes a $1,000 prize to be donated to the charity or nonprofit organization of the winner’s choice. The first Spirit of Giving Award was given posthumously in 2010 to Connie Marshall; other past winners include Art Heimann, Beryl and Mary Lou Clotfelter, and Tom Marshall.

Nomination letters should be no more than two pages in length and may describe the candidate’s record of volunteer activities, service on boards of directors, charitable impact or significant donations to nonprofits, and evidence of encouraging others to take on community leadership roles. A maximum of three letters of recommendation may be submitted with each nomination. Nomination forms may be found on the GPCF website at www.greaterpcf.org. Completed forms may either be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to P.O. Box 344, Grinnell, IA 50112.
